The Iseo lake |
|
| |
The Iseo Lake is placed in the territory of Franciacorta, land of vineyards and very important wines.
The lake is shaped by the Oglio river, which is 280 km long.
The most important town is Iseo, of which its centre nucleus was modified at the end of the 1800s to develop the lakeside in a tourist and commercial sense. The town centre is medieval.
As testimony there is the Parish Churh of S. Andrea from the year 1000 with a simple face surmounted by the bell tower that wraps a majestic inside.
The hill towards the Castle includes the visit to the sanctuary of Virgin Mary of the Snow (Madonna della Neve) of the late 1700s. In the middle of the lake there is Monte Isola, where we can find traces of monasteries and other religious and civil buildings.
